New Developments in Computer Technology: Virtual Reality was a hearing before the United States Senate Subcommittee on Science, Technology, and Space.[1][2]

Among the involved were Al Gore, Jaron Lanier, and Thomas Furness.[1]

Jaron Lanier said that most of VPL's customers were not in the United States, but instead from Japan, Germany, and France.[1]

Tom Furness spoke about the Super Cockpit.[1] He spoke about high resolution CRTs that were made for head mounted displays.[1] He spoke about 3D sound and spatial tracking systems.[1] He also spoke about the Virtual Retinal Display.[1]

Lee Holcomb mentioned the Virtual Environment Workstation.[1]

The hearing was followed by demonstrations of VPL's RB2 system to senators and congressmen.[3]
