Microelectronics

Microelectronics are electronic systems that operate on very small scales. Typically, they use principles of quantum physics, where atoms have a number of energy levels that electron orbitals can be in. For example, LEDs, solar cells, and NMOS and CMOS logic gates are quantum microelectronics.
