Magnet wire is wire that can be wrapped to make an electromagnet. It is essential to make a classical electromagnetic tracking system. It is also known as enameled wire.
It is typically made of copper, or sometimes aluminum.
The coating can be made from different materials, such as polyimide. The coating must be applied to the wire.
It is sometimes red due to the coating used.
There can be multiple layers of insulating coatings applied.[1]
The coating material is a type of wire enamel and/or electrical insulating varnish.
Theoretically, materials such as bio based epoxy resins can be used as coatings.
