Chromatic aberration correction

Chromatic aberration correction is a method for reducing distortion in VR headsets. It involves applying a rendering pass to the rendered content before it goes into the lenses of a VR headset, to fix chromatic aberration.

2010s-era VR headsets commonly have cheap lenses that have a lot of chromatic aberration around the edges of the images. One way to fix this is by applying a layer or shader in software to pre-distort the image on the screen (or screens) of the headset before it goes through the lens. Apparently this was pioneered at or by, or in some way related to ZeniMax Media.
