The Apple IIe Enhanced is a personal computer sold by Apple starting in about March 1985.[1] It is also known as the Enhanced IIe.[2] It is completely identical to the original IIe except for 4 chips changed on the motherboard (and a small “Enhanced” or “65C02” sticker placed over the keyboard power indicator).[3]

It largely supplanted the original Apple IIe, and eventually was largely supplanted itself by the Apple IIe Platinum.

The Enhanced IIe has several upgrades that first were on the Apple IIc. It upgrades the processor to a 65C02. It includes MouseText characters, and has firmware updates.[2]

As of the year G2024, most Apple IIe computers made are Enhanced IIe models.[2]

Starting in March 1985, Apple started doing final assembly of Apple IIe computers in Singapore, after previously only making boards there.[4] Apple worked with Singatronics for production.[4]
