This is a guide on how to make an indium gallium nitride (InGaN) LED chip. InGaN LED chips can be used to make bright white LEDs, which can be used for directional backlights or individual pixels for use in superpixels. They have a bright blue color which can be neutralized to white using a yellow phosphor once packaged.
Ingan LED chips can be made on a sapphire substrate. The sapphire is pure aluminum oxide (Al2O3).[1]
There are different methods for chips. There is a conventional chip, where sapphire is on the bottom.[1] There is flip chip, where it is flipped.[1] And there are thin film methods.[1]
