Chromatic aberration correction

Chromatic aberration correction in VR is the process of applying a rendering pass to whatever is being rendered on a flat screen before it goes into the lenses of a VR headset and into the user's eyes, to fix chromatic aberration.

2010s-era VR headsets commonly used cheap lenses that had a lot of chromatic aberration around the edges of the images. One way to fix this is by applying a layer or shader in software to pre-distort the image on the screen (or screens) of the headset before it goes through the lens. Apparently this was pioneered at or by, or in some way related to ZeniMax Media.
