A Lynx R1 headset

The Lynx R1 is a MR headset created by Lynx. It has flat focus. It has video passthrough.

It was the first or one of the first to have the concept of a VR headset that does not take up the user's entire field of vision. The Quest Pro was largely a copy of its design.

The video passthrough on the Lynx R1 is laggy and not properly registered to the environment.

It was first announced about 2015. The first units only shipped in about 2023.

It is an all in one headset.

It costs about 900 dollars.

Its field of view is about 90 degrees by 90 degrees.

It uses innovative optics using a freeform prism.

The R1 was presented at SPIE Photonics West 2020.[1]

Lynx used Compal in Taiwan/China as its manufacturer.[2]
