A 3D tracking system is an electronic system that performs 3D tracking using one or more types of tracking, such as electromagnetic tracking, SLAM, or Lighthouse tracking.

It can be used to track a headset or handheld peripherals like 3D pens.

It is also known as a motion tracking system.

A system that uses two or more types of tracking together is named a hybrid tracking system. Examples of hybrid tracking systems are the InterSense IS-900 and the laserBIRD.[1]
